Nerve Support Stack

MitoCORE is the foundation product for the nerve-support stack.

Because nerves are energy-demanding tissues, supporting mitochondrial health and antioxidant defenses can be an important part of a comprehensive nerve-health plan.

Alpha Lipoic Acid, also called ALA, is an antioxidant that supports nerve health, glucose metabolism, cellular energy, and protection against oxidative stress.

It is used as supportive care, not as a stand-alone cure.

Vitamin D supports more than bones. It plays a role in normal muscle and nerve function, immune regulation, inflammation balance, and bone health. Vitamin K2 helps direct calcium toward bones and away from soft tissues.

Patients should work with their physician to check levels and determine appropriate dosing.

Vitamin C should be presented as supportive care and an adjunct to a comprehensive nerve health plan, not as a cure.

It supports collagen formation, immune function, and antioxidant defense. Patients with a history of kidney stones, chronic kidney disease, hemochromatosis, or G6PD deficiency should discuss Vitamin C use with a clinician before taking higher doses.

After surgery, your body requires specific nutrients to promote tissue and bone healing. Protein, calcium, and Vitamin D3 are crucial for this process. Initially, protein serves as the foundation for bone building, followed by the incorporation of calcium into the protein structure to form strong bones. Vitamin D3 plays a vital role in regulating bone formation. To ensure optimal recovery, it’s essential to maintain adequate levels of these nutrients through a balanced diet and targeted supplementation during the first three months post-surgery.

Calcium: Essential for Bone Healing

Calcium is critical for maintaining healthy bones and achieving a solid fusion after surgery. Typically, it takes about 2-3 months for your body to fully develop a solid fusion. During this healing phase, providing your body with sufficient calcium is paramount. However, not all calcium supplements are equally effective. Calcium citrate and calcium aspartate are preferred because they are more easily absorbed by the digestive tract, ensuring that your body gets the calcium it needs.

We recommend Metagenics Calcium , which is available at our office or can be purchased online through the Metagenics website or the Vitamin Shop. This supplement not only provides easily absorbable calcium but also includes essential minerals like phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, and manganese, all of which support bone healing.

Post-Surgery Calcium Dosage:

First 3 Months: 1,500 mg of calcium daily, divided into two doses—one in the morning and one in the evening.

After 3 Months: Women over 40 should continue taking calcium daily, reducing the dosage to 1,200 mg per day.

Vitamin D: Supporting Bone Metabolism and Overall Health

Vitamin D is a powerful antioxidant essential for regulating blood calcium levels and supporting bone metabolism. It is necessary for proper bone formation and helps prevent osteoporosis. Additionally, Vitamin D has been linked to a reduced risk of 25 different types of cancer.

In our practice, we’ve observed that 85% of our patients have significant Vitamin D deficiencies. Low Vitamin D levels can impede or delay proper bone healing after surgery. Therefore, maintaining adequate Vitamin D levels post-operatively is crucial for optimal bone formation and recovery.

Vitamin D Supplementation:

We test all patients’ Vitamin D levels before surgery.

A daily dose of 5,000 IU (International Units) of Vitamin D is recommended.

If severe deficiency is detected, we will adjust the dosage accordingly for 3 months, followed by a recheck of Vitamin D levels and further dosage adjustments as needed.
